‘94年よりDJ活動を開始。90年代最先端レコードショップの一つであったDMR大阪での勤務後、大阪のレコードパワースポットnewtone recordsでオープン時からバイヤーとして活躍し、現在もスタッフとして在席している。20~21世紀移行前後にEYEとの大阪伝説のパーティー『eep』をオーガナイズ、日本のパーティシーンに大きな衝撃を与え語り継がれる『FLOWER OF LIFE』のメンバーでもあった。安定のグルーヴ感でフロアをロックするその技に高い評価を得ている。ハウスミュージックの聖地として名高い札幌PRECIOUS HALLでのプレイや、FUTURE TERRORといったテクノ・パーティにもゲスト出演、また各地野外パーティにも数多く出演する。ベトナム、香港、韓国など、アジアのアンダーグラウンドシーンでのプレイも高評価を得、昨年はロンドン fabric、アジア最大級のフェスティバルWONDERFRUITでもブレイし大成果を上げた。
ハウス〜テクノ〜ブレイクビーツといったダンスミュージックを主に、その他出演するパーティのスタイルは様々で、エクスペリメンタル〜チルアウト〜ジャズ….等ジャンルを飛び越え縦横無尽に、その場の雰囲気を意識しつつも「好きな音」をプレイし続けている。
YAMA has been a prominent figure in Japan’s club scene for many years. With a focus on house music but also venturing into techno, ambient, jazz, and beyond, YAMA captivates audiences with an eclectic, but carefully curated selection that is as diverse as it is cohesive. With years of experience as a record store buyer (she is currently an advisor at Newtone Records in Osaka) YAMA is consistently exploring new sounds. Her expert blend of uplifting grooves with deep, psychedelic soundscapes has earned her praise from multitudes of dancers in Japan – as well as some of the most respected DJs in the world. Her steady, confident mixing has the power to move bodies and minds with equal skill, inevitably locking in dancefloors as soon as she gets behind the decks. Known for her regular performances at the legendary Precious Hall in Sapporo, her guest appearances at techno parties like Future Terror and her sets at countless outdoor festivals around Japan, YAMA’s sound resonates with equal intensity, passion, and depth wherever she plays.
